Bering Straits Regional Housing Authority (BSRHA) is pleased to announce the 2024 College Student Housing Grant. Eligible tribal members who meet the application requirements and are one of the tribes under the Tribal Designated Housing Entity can receive up to $4,000 per semester. We appreciate and encourage our tribal members who are deciding to expand their education. Leadership and qualified personnel are often needed in our communities. This grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The grantee will be responsible for providing a complete application; incomplete applications will not be processed or accepted. The grant will be paid directly to the institution each semester.
2024 Fall semester applications will be accepted from May 1st through June 15th: award notifications will begin in July, and funds will be disbursed to the university in August.
BSRHA will accept applications for the spring semester from October 1st through November 15th. Award notifications will begin in December, and funds will be disbursed to the university in January 2025.
Application Requirements:
- Tribally enrolled in one of our enlisted tribes.
- Must be Alaska Native/American Indian – Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) or tribal enrollment verification is required.
- Must reside in the Bering Straits Region.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college.
- Must have a household income that does not exceed 80-100% of median income.

- Must be attending college full-time.
- Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Must be living on campus at the enrolled university.
- Provide a letter of acceptance from their chosen institution.
- Proof of residency.
- Optional: Provide favorite subsistence activities with a story or a story with an elder.
